Calibrate ABA
Calibrate ABA is a parent-mediated intervention based in the evidence-based procedures of applied behavior analysis (ABA) which focuses on addressing dangerous behavior for children, youth, and adults with autism or other developmental disabilities. This program guides learners through advanced ABA concepts such as conducting parent-mediated functional analysis. Furthermore, it provides learners with multiple behavioral strategies and tools to use with families in their application of Calibrate.
The Calibrate ABA Program equips learners with essential skills to coach caregivers on evidence-based procedures for reducing dangerous or severe behaviors in developmentally disabled youth. This program helps you effectively develop, collaborate on, and guide caregivers in creating and implementing effective behavior support plans. The goal is to minimize behaviors that could lead to injury or involve law enforcement. By reducing these high-risk behaviors, you play a key role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the youth and the community.

Learning Objectives
- Implement Calibrate ABA protocols with fidelity according to the fidelity checklist.
- Identify three factors that facilitate a parent-mediated approach in addressing dangerous behaviors.
- Differentiate at least two attributes between appropriate adolescent and teen behaviors and dangerous behaviors.
- Conduct a Calibrate ABA Assessment using the Assessment Protocol.
- Create an appropriate Behavior Support Plan that meets fidelity requirements of at least 80%.
- Use data to determine the appropriate next step across three clinical scenarios.

Prerequisites
A master's degree or higher in a related field. Experience with ABA and the ability to implement ABA based on your clinical scope of practice in your state/region.

About the Program
Capstone session are one of the final elements of Catalight's Certificate Programs. Capstone sessions are virtual sessions where you meet with an Instructor. Capstone sessions include question and answer portions as well as final content for the course. These sessions are designed to be the final step in your journey through your coursework with Catalight Classroom.
Capstone sessions are approximately 1.5 hours in length. This is necessary to provide time to adequately cover the material. Please come prepared to make the most of this extended learning opportunity.
Enhance your learning with a Fidelity Check in Calibrate ABA. These advanced fidelity reviews, ensure Calibrate interventions are delivered as intended. Learners submit a video of themselves conducting a Calibrate session which is then reviewed and assessed by an instructor. Through detailed, video reviews, learners receive precise feedback on their clinical skills and decision-making, fostering a deeper understanding of best practices and common pitfalls. This process helps identify areas for improvement, leading to more effective and confident clinical practice.
Program Outcomes
The course covers key topics including understanding and assessing dangerous behaviors, implementing a parent-mediated approach, and developing individualized behavior support plans with fidelity. Learners will explore the use of assessment tools such as FBAs and Parent-Mediated FAs, differentiate between typical and dangerous adolescent behaviors, and promote self-determination. Additional focus areas include crisis response strategies, effective communication for navigating tough conversations, fostering caregiver confidence, and using data to evaluate progress and guide treatment adjustments.
Learners are expected to conduct assessments, develop and implement individualized behavior support plans with fidelity, coach caregivers in evidence-based strategies, and adjust interventions using data. They should communicate effectively, navigate tough conversations with empathy, respond to crises, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manage high-risk behaviors and achieve sustainable outcomes.
